About Tom Cheng

T. Thomas Cheng, president and principal consultant of Tom Cheng Technology Consulting, brings over 12 years of IT experience to the field. Mr. Cheng began his career in 1997 as a software developer for Peace Technology, developing custom workflow and information management systems for several government agencies, including the Government Accountability Office. In 2000, he joined the Adrenaline Group as an information architect, designing and developing a turn-key web hosting solution for Verisign.

In 2001, Mr. Cheng joined Computech, where he worked for more than 7 years in numerous capacities, including development lead and enterprise architect. Among his major accomplishments were the implementation of the Federal Communications Commission’s spectrum auctions system and the development of a strategic IT roadmap for the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Mr. Cheng holds a Master’s degree in computer science from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley. He is an avid skier and cyclist, and has completed several long distance rides, including the 480-mile Alaska AIDS Vaccine Ride and the 520-mile Bicycle Tour of Colorado. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Mary.
